Jeff Kaufman is a senior software engineer, biosecurity researcher, and prolific technical blogger. After a long career at Google, he now leads the Nucleic Acid Observatory project at the biosecurity organization SecureBio.

He and his wife, Julia Wise, are well-known longtime practitioners of Effective Altruism, donating 50% of their household income to high-impact charities—a commitment that has been featured in major international media including The Washington Post and The New York Times.
